Introduction

Our aim is to provide members with a safe and friendly place online to share their interest in cats with other site visitors by asking and answering questions related to cats.

Our site visitors come from all locations and backgrounds, and often have a wide variety of thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. We believe all of our members have the right to feel comfortable when using Cats.com, regardless of their background and beliefs. Keep this in mind when you interact with other site visitors, and treat others with respect.

This site is not a place for you to harass, abuse, threaten, or otherwise bother other site visitors, and it's not a place for you to do anything illegal. We don't want to kick you off the site but if you do any of these things, we will. So don't do them.

Ground Rules for Asking and Answering Questions

The primary goal of Cats.com is to provide site visitors with useful information related to Cats in a friendly, safe environment. You will be able to search the site for the information you’re looking for, post a question if you cannot find the appropriate information, and provide answers to questions that other site visitors have asked. To ensure a productive environment for this, we ask that you adhere to some basic ground rules when asking and answering questions.

• Keep both questions and answers direct and concise. Stay on topic; don’t chatter or add unrelated links or solicitations.


• Categorize and add keywords appropriately to your questions to help people find them so they can respond to you.


• Posting answers to your own questions is discouraged. Please use the comments if you need to add information.


• Share your knowledge by positively adding to the community. Be considerate of others’ opinions. Reward your peers with good ratings for their assistance and reliability. Likewise, push down unrelated or unhelpful answers.

If you have any questions or concerns about these rules, please contact us. Violation of these Ground Rules will result in ineligibility for contest entry or other promotions run on Cats.com, and possibly account termination.

General Terms of Use

Welcome to Cats.com! We are thrilled to provide our services to you, subject to the following Terms of Use. If you visit Cats.com, you accept these Terms of Use.

Termination of Account
Cats.com reserves the right to terminate your account or your access to and use of Cats.com's services at any time, at Cats.com's sole discretion for any reason, with or without cause. If you violate these Terms, Cats.com, in its sole discretion, may also require you to remedy any violation of these Terms, and/or take any other actions that Cats.com deems appropriate to enforce its rights and pursue all available remedies.

Community Guidelines

General Content Guidelines
Users shall use Cats.com for lawful purposes only. Users shall not submit to Cats.com any material which violates or infringes in any way upon the rights of others, which is unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, vulgar, obscene, profane or otherwise objectionable, which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any law.

Cats.com is for personal, non-commercial use only. Users shall not submit any content containing advertising without express prior written approval from Cats.com.

Users shall not submit any content to Cats.com that is protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right without the express permission of the owner of the copyright, trademark or other proprietary right. The burden of determining that any content is not protected by copyright rests with the user. The user shall be solely liable for any damage resulting from any infringement of copyrights, proprietary rights, or any other harm resulting from such a submission.

Cats.com reserves the right at any time to delete content without notice, and to ban users from the Web site.

Content Guidelines
You understand that all information, data, text, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages or other materials ("Content"), whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, are the sole responsibility of the person from which such Content originated. This means that you, and not Cats.com, are entirely responsible for all Content that you upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available via the site. Cats.com does not control the Content posted or disseminated via the site and, as such, does not guarantee the accuracy, integrity or quality of such Content. You understand that by using Cats.com's services, you may be exposed to Content that is offensive, indecent or objectionable. g) collect or store personal data about other users in connection with the prohibited conduct and activities set forth in paragraphs a through f above.

Cats.com retains the right to remove any and all Content it considers objectionable or that it believes was posted in violation of these Terms of Use.

Occasionally, users will post their e-mail addresses in public posting areas. Users shall not gather these e-mail addresses for purposes of spamming or for any non-personal or commercial purposes.

If you are under the age of 18 you should seek your parents' permission before accessing our Web site. Because Cats.com includes content that is uploaded directly from users, there may be some content on Cats.com that is not appropriate for people under 18.

As between Cats.com and you, you will own your member content, and Cats.com owns all right, title and interest (including all intellectual property rights) in and to the Site, the Services, the technology, information, documents, files, Web pages and other product developed in connection with the Site or available on the Site.

License and Site Access
Cats.com grants you a limited license to access and make personal use of this site but not to download (other than page caching) or modify this site in any way, except with the express written consent of Cats.com. License Granted by User
Cats.com does not claim ownership of the photographs, videos or other media ("Media") created or uploaded by users. Cats.com will not resell Media to third parties unless authorized in writing to do so. Unless we indicate otherwise, if you upload content, including any media, to the Cats.com site, you grant Cats.com a worldwide, non-exclusive and royalty-free license to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publicly perform and publicly display the content as we deem appropriate in providing the services authorized or requested by you, including the right to use the name that is submitted in connection with such content. This license exists only for as long as you elect to continue to include such content on Cats.com and will terminate at the time you remove or Cats.com removes such content from the site. Entire Agreement

In the case of inconsistencies between these Terms and any information included in off-line materials, these Terms shall control.

No Right of Survivorship and Non-Transferability
You agree that your Cats.com account is non-transferable and any rights to your Cats.com I.D. or contents within your account terminate upon your death. Upon receipt of a copy of a death certificate, your account may be terminated and all contents therein permanently deleted.

Indemnity

Applicable Law
This legal notice shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts without regard to its conflicts of laws provision.

Modifications of site, policies or terms of use, User account termination.

We reserve the right to make changes to our site, policies, and these Terms of Use at any time. Should you object to any terms and conditions of these Terms of Use or any subsequent modifications thereto, or should you become dissatisfied with Cats.com in any way, your only recourse is to immediately: a) discontinue your use of Cats.com; and b) terminate your Cats.com membership by contacting us by e-mail via our online feedback form.

Termination of Account
Cats.com reserves the right to terminate your account or your access to and use of Cats.com's services at any time, at Cats.com's sole discretion for any reason, with or without cause. If you violate these Terms, Cats.com, in its sole discretion, may also require you to remedy any violation of these Terms, and/or take any other actions that Cats.com deems appropriate to enforce its rights and pursue all available remedies.

If any of these conditions shall be deemed invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that condition shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining condition.
