Why does my cat hate walking on a leash?

Leash Lother! Cute!

I did train one cat to leash walk. Her name is Ebby and she broke her leg when she was only 8 weeks old so we had no choice but to harness train her so she wouldn’t try to run around while her leg was casted for 2 months.

However, Ebby hates the harness and leash even though she grew up in it. We no longer walk her on a leash because we built an outdoor cat enclosure for all our cats to enjoy.

Most all of our cats refuse the harness. I don’t know why they just do. I think the main thing is just trying to let them get used to wearing the harness, then wearing the harness and leash, then trying walking on leash. Remember, cats are independent and they can’t be bossed around like drooling dogs. lol!

well,some cats like leashes,and some don’t..your cat must be the cat that does not like leashes.

its hard for cats to stay on leashes thinking that they can roam around and not be straped by a leash

cats like to be free. i mean free AS IN FREEDOM. if they are not free they will feel uncomfortable

Hello, Cats are known to explore they can learn to like them, its up to the cat. But cats do like there way and that is to roam and hunt.

some like some don’t. cats like to be free they don’t want to be tied with something.

because cats get their own excercise. and they don’t like getting excercise again.

MY indoorcat (we leashed her when we had a door open would squirm and wiggle until she got out
she even hated a collar she would walk backwards to try to getr it offf

maybe because they don’t like to feel to tight to the owner they will like to be free.

because cats aren’t like dogs. They aren’t meant to be put on leaches.

all cats do they have 2 get use to it

These awsers are either funny or dont give help . Always check if the leash is too tight . Or 2 Cats like to be free they are mamales and meat eaters . They have less teeth to protect them self . They go hunt for there food cats arent perfect you know .

The reason why your cat does not like a leash is because they are use to being so independent so getting them to go on a walk like a dog is going to be very trick but i think you can do it just keep trying don’t give up what ever you do/

Because they get exercise on there own and don’t want to get exercise again. thats why.

Cat’s need training just like dog’s and they are very smart. If you take the time in life to teach them they will learn.
