Why do cats eyes get bigger in the dark and smaller in the sunlight?

The pupils get bigger in the dark to let more light in so they can see better and then they get smaller in the light to let less light in.

Your eyes will do the same… just on a much smaller scale. Go in the bathroom and turn the lights off so it’s completely dark… wait a minute or two them look into the mirror and flip on the light. Your pupils will shrink.

because there eyes are reverted. they have nightvision. so they sleep during the day and wana play play play at night!

the same thing happens to humans, it is probably just the cat eyes adjusting to the different lighting.

gracylucy has a pretty good short answer.heres my opinon”like humans when the lights are on their pupul will get smaller.cuz the eye dont need another big pupul.lights off they get bigger cuz they need more light same for cats too.”

Its because in dark their pupils grow in dark so that light can enter their eyes and they could see in dark, whereas in bright sunlight it becomes small so that less light could enter and they could see properly in day
