Can a cat kill a dog?

5 Answers  |  Asked By: fredfuller   2

I am writing a novel in which the characters are cats. It is a love story. I want my male protagonist, Gaylord, to kill a dog that killed his lady love, Adele, who is pregnant with kittens. Would I be stretching it if I had Gaylord kill the dog in revenge? Ever hear of a cat, a housecat, killing a dog, anyone?

Actually(and I’ve read all the Warriors books, which are about cats!)having a cat kill a dog is fine, but really the way the cat kills the dog should matter. For example,in the Warriors series BlueStar kills a dog by luring it over a cliff into the river below. So really its how your cat goes about killing the dog that matters(if it fights it until it dies it wouldn’t seem realistic)

well, no i have ent ever heard of that, of a cat killin a dog, but if the story is s noot true which it is not in the begening with havin the characters as animals as dogs and cats, then its fine in my personal oppinion to have the cat killin th e dog, Its not a stretch. cos its fake and NOT true in the begenin so kay its fine.

I agree with Playfull kitten. If I were writing your book I would have the cat protagonist outsmart the dog some how instead of them fighting. You don’t have to do that, its just a suggestion.

My hero, Gaylord, decided not to kill the dog but to maim the animal so it will never forget what it has done.. So, he attacks the dog while it’s asleep and blinds him. I know cats, when confronted by a dog they can’t escape, will often go for the dog’s eyes. Anyway, it seems to work for now. I’ll have to wait to re-write in oder to test its plausibility. Thank you for your responses.
