If you let your cats outdoors there are all manner of ways they can be killed - they could have gotten run over by a car, they could have been killed by cruel people, they could have gotten killed and eaten by foxes or especially coyotes (in some areas coyotes will preferentially hunt cats - I know one person who lives in Colorado who calls outdoor cats “coyote chow” it’s so bad where she lives), they could have eaten something poisonous and died, they could have been stolen by someone collecting cats to sell to laboratories and a whole host of other things. If they’re male cats and not neutered they could have gotten beaten up in fights over females or just wandered off in search of mates. Seriously, there are 100 different things that can happen to outdoor cats.
I do have to ask you though, if the first two cats disappeared, why on earth did your sister let the kitten outside?!? To paraphrase Albert Einstein “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results” - PLEASE tell your sister to keep any cats she gets INDOORS if they are dying or disappearing outside! Cats can be perfectly happy living indoors as long as they have a bed, a scratching post, and some toys. If she doesn’t want to let cats inside the house, tell her to get a dog instead and keep it in a fenced back yard.

Well said telegramsam!

That's exactly what I was going to say if she said that they let them outside. If they're indoor cats...I'm not sure what could have happened.

Well if they're indoor cats and disappearing, obviously they are getting *out* somehow, or getting caught somewhere inside the house such is in a crawlspace, attic, basement or behind the walls. It's not common but that sort of thing can happen. You can usually hear them though if they get caught, they typically start calling out from wherever they are stuck when they get hungry or become distressed.

Well right, obviously they're either trapped somewhere in your house, or escaped outdoors.

if your cats liked you then you can leave some clothing that you just wore and leave it outside. if any of those cats are still alive then they will flock to your scent for protection. also you can call the animal shelter near you, most people take strays there once they find one. Also someone could have taken your cat(s) in so put up posters around your neighborhood! Hope they find you soon.

well if you live out in the country, they may have been either picked up by somthing, or have gotten lost, and can’t find thair way back. i’ve had meny kittins and cat’s disaper, and only a few have come back. but most likly the cat’s have gotten lost, or went off to be alone to die. i know that all of this is not good news but it’s true. i hope everything will be okay.

Well if your cats live outdoors, then listen to what Telegramsam said! Obviously there's so many things that can happen outdoors to your cat. Keep them inside! You should've learned the first time.

Your cats might have been stolen. There are some really terrible people out there. Check your local animal shelters to make sure that someone didn’t think that your cats were strays. Put collars on your cats with name tags and put your phone number on the name tag too.

Did you go look for them? Tell her to stop letting her cats outside. They could still be alive, but I was going to ask if they were male or female? It depends on the cat, but it’s been my personal experience and other people had found this out, too, that male and female cats have different personalities. For instance, when I had my male cat, Cappucino, I’d let him out occasionally because he was always asking to go outside and I’d just let him go out there to play. And this cat was hyper and mean. I’d always call him every night to come in at about 6:30. And one night I called him and he just didn’t come back. I think I saw him a few times, but he wanted to be out in the wild. Chino was tough. My new cat, Squeaky, however, won’t even stay out on the deck for more than a few minutes and the few times this prissy little cat has been outside, she’s always squeaking to get back in. So, if these three cats were male or female might determine if they even want to come back.

Omg everyone is jumping to conclusions like \\\”Your sister is terrible because the cats got out\\\’ but I\\\’m sure thats not the case is it? Cats are so sneaky and sometimes you can\\\’t help it if they get outside I have two cats at my dads that are so good at escaping before you can grab them they\\\’re just really curious about what to them is the \\\”unknown world\\\”. At my moms though sadly even though I love cats I can\\\’t have them in the house so they are permenent outside cats and sometimes they run away or get killed the only time I take cats to my moms is when they\\\’re is no other option for them thats safer then the farm. But anyways just make sure your sister is super cautious when going outside.
