I appreciate your valiant effort to defend your cat, but it is a really bad idea to go after a raccoon. As PrettyKitty has already stated, raccoons can carry a lot of diseases. Your cat isn’t the only one who might get hurt. A raccoon can do a lot of damage to a person, also. Your best bet is to make loud noises from a safe distance and keep your cat indoors so that you don’t ever have to deal with this.

well, my dad had a dog when he was little. the dog got attacked by a raccoon and it killed him. even if your cat wasnt hurt, take him to he is the vet. raccoons carry all kinds of diseases. they also have rabies. you need to take your cat to the vet to make sure that he is ok.

I do. We have raccoons. I will do any thing for ANY animal. The Dogs in our neighborhood killed many raccoons. 1 husky 2 black labs 2 unknown and 1 other dog. They all killed raccoons. babies, male, female, and elderly raccoons. they killed them all. I didn’t care at the moment about what the dog felt. I saw our neighbor’s dog killing a raccoon in the middle of the night. I slapped that dog and pulled it away. The poor raccoon died moments later. The last thing it looked at was me. Like it was thanking me but i was so upset. Since i am an Animal lover it hurts to see that happen. :-(

The most common cause of a racoon attacking a cat is catfood being left out. Go ahead and feed your cat outdoors after the sun rises and before it sets. But don’t feed it outdoors at dawn, dusk or night. A racoon will notice the food, and one that is bigger than the cat (or exceptionally hungry) will go thru the cat to get the food.
