i wonder when people say that their cat has stripes so what breed are they and others answer that it is a tabby.

No… Lots of different breeds have strips, tabby just happens to be the most common stripped cat.
Just remember that “color” does not signify the “breed”. Lots of different breeds can share the same colors.

It is not always.
Tabby markings come in stripes spots swirls all colours and in a lot of breeds .
Heres a picture of a manx cat

who has tabby markings( stripes) but has all of the characteristics and other factors of the manx cat.
So a cat with stripes isn’t always a tabby

NO BECAUSE ALL CATS CAN HAVE STRIPES, MY KITTEN HAS STRIPES BUT SHE IS NOT A TABBY SHE IS A FERREL
