It can be many reasons why… one reason may be your cat ate so rapidly he threw the food back up again…he might of ate something disigreeable, played too soon after eating, or other non-serious conditions. An occassional episode of vomiting is normal. If it’s daily vomiting and a lot, it could be severe, and you should immediately take him your vet, as it would require vets attention and treatment.

My cat’s been pretty pukey his whole life and one of the vet techs I asked about it suggested he may just be a pukey kind of cat. But, when we took him for his first visit to his new vet in a new country, that vet asked if the food was mostly undigested, and if our cat was still hungry after yakking. The answer to both of those questions is yes, most of the time. The new vet said this is very common in cats that have hair aggravating their stomach lining, and that treating him with common hairball remedies would alleviate the problem.
