my cat has been throwing up bile for 4 days. a visit to the vet had the following results, no infection showed up in blood work, and x ray showed no blockage. however, they did find a puncture would on his shoulder that was filled with pus, they drained that and sent him home with antitbiotics. but, even after just sipping a little water he throws up, also, he is supposed to have the antitbiotic with food and he is not eating. could the shoulder wound be causing the vomiting? I am not sure what other steps to take.

I hope they gave him a shot of antibiotics at the vet. Cats heal wounds by licking them clean (it is a way of immunizing themselves against the infecting bacteria). But I can readily understand vomiting afterwards. If he has a favorite food or snack such as tuna or catnip treats (no matter the quality) use that to try to get him to eat and ingest the antibiotics. It sounds like his immune system is not up to par. Has he had his shots? FIV and FelV? The antibiotics can take a while to work, especially if the infection is pretty much isolated from the rest of his body in an abscess. If he continues to refuse to eat, you should call the vet and ask about using a topical antibiotic salve or ointment that would be safe for cats.
