Agreed - do NOT pick up an adult cat in this manner. The increased weight can cause injury to your cat. \\\”Scruffing\\\” is ok - as johnisgood2 said, it\\\’s a good way to calm & control an adult cat. Just make sure the cat\\\’s full weight is supported & that the cat isn\\\’t actually being held in this manner.

Fluffy is very correct.
Just want to say that this is a great way to calm cats down: squeeze the scruff of their neck. I learned that from somebody at my local animal shelter and it totally works on my cat. Since cats get calmed down when their mother scruffs them, when you squeeze them on the neck area they get calmed down.

well if they\\\’re kittens no. Becuase kittens are made to be picked up by the scruffs of their neck. Grown Cats are different. it might harm them. Ask your dad to ease off doing it just in case.
