Get a deshedding brush, one that get the undercoat and the topcoat. Also this time of year is the worst for shedding because they are shedding their winter coat. If the shedding continues she may need a change in diet b/c a poor diet can cause excessive shedding too.

I have two short haired, white cats that used to shed horribly year round! Where ever they would sleep would be a circle of fur! Petting them would cause fur to fly everywhere. Brushing did not control it. What are you feeding her? I found that changing our cat’s diet stopping the constant dropping of their coats.. It's spring and yet our cats are shedding minimally and have beautiful, soft, silky fur. Normally this time of year they would be dropping clumps of fur. Diet plays a huge role in cat’s skin and fur.

I second the de-shedding tool, something like a furminator is useful for removing loose fur before it can stick all over everything. If your cat has long fur it should be brushed daily, shorthaired cats can usually be brushed once or twice a week and that should do the job.

Now, it *is* springtime and this is when cats shed their “winter” coats. Is this shedding a recent problem? If so, the season is probably the cause. If it is a year-round constant problem your cat may have a food allergy or insensitivity (a common cause of excessive shedding in dogs and cats) and you might wish to discuss this with your vet. The typical culprits are corn, wheat and soy. Foods with artificial food coloring or flavoring can cause a problem as well. Very rarely a protein source is the issue, such as beef or fish. An elimination diet may be necessary to figure out what the cause is.

If the shedding doesn’t decrease at the end of the season, I would personally try feeding a diet free of corn, wheat and soy for a few weeks and see if the shedding starts to lessen. There are several of these brands available on the market. I personally feed my cat a brand called Wellness that fits this description, though you and your cat may prefer some other variety so try a few until you find one your cat will eat.

Have you tried a shedding brush? Brush your cat so that the fur sheds onto the brush instead of your bed. Hope I could help!

Good idea, but also a GREAT idea is when you get a shedding brush, #1 make sure that it's gentle enough for cats fur; cats are sensitive-- try brushing the skin are your arms. it should be soft enough not to hurt, but hard enough to pick up that shedding fur. #2 once you get it make sure to brush her all the time cleaning up the hair in the brush. At least once a day would be a minimal ammount. Hope this helps.

Yes, exactly! You should get a little glove thing, I forgot what its called but I have one and it picks up the hair because it has little hairs going one way so you brush the spot with hair on it the other way so it picks it up. Its really handy. I'm not just saying this, but I do hope that I could help. Cio!
