Yes it can happen. If it does, take a stool sample to your vet asap.

Some of the major causes of the disorder are Bacterial infections like Clostridia, E Coli, and Salmonella Ingestion of toxic substances like rat poison or house cleaning agents. Intestinal parasites like tapeworms, hookworms and roundworms. Consumption of unhealthy or allergic food those are unsuitable for cats. Presence of benign tumors in the rectum or colon. Invagination of one part of the bowel into another. 'Coagulopathy' or clotting disorder in the body. Intake of certain allergic drugs and antibiotics. Cancer of the lower bowel (neoplasia). My cat, when she was a kitten, once had blood in her stools when we got her from a person, but she was malnutritioned, and her tummy was swolen. I took her to the vet, and they cured her up. If your cat ever has blood, go to the vet, and check whats going on. Im not trying to scare you more, but I am only giving you tips for what to look out for if that is what your cat looks like and has blood in its stool. There could be many possibilites, like Amycat’s suggestion. Dont worry about it, theres very little chance it can happen to your cat.

I had a cat back in the 80’s who had blood in her stool. I took her to the vet, and she ended up having feline distemper. Blood in the stool is a serious situation that must be checked out by a vet. I hope your cat never suffers from this affliction!

like humans can poop blood so can animals. when this happens they have a tear in their intestines, it usually heals on its own but if it doesn’t stop take the cat to the vet. there may be a more serious problem.
