mucous plug

1 Answer  |  Asked By: sgiansante   53

Two weeks ago, I noticed my male cat was having trouble peeing and thought it was a UTI. I took him to the vet and they treated him for a mucous plug. They had him for three days and explained to me the procedure that had to be done. They also prescribed antibiotics and ant-inflammatory medication. The whole thing cost me $500. Anyways, I still haven’t finished giving him the drugs and my cat’s already demonstrating the same symptoms he’d had before. I don’t want to put my cat through another procedure (that involves anesthesia) and I don’t have another $500 to get the same results. Are there alternative treatments that I have not been told about? Please help. I’m literally losing sleep with this whole situation.

Othr than bringing your cat to the vet that you are currently seeing you can get a second opinion. No matter what it most likly will cost some money, Do not assume that the whole procedure will need to be redone, it may just be that he needs a stronger antibiotic.
Wishing you and your kitty the best
