How old is your cat? If she’s at least 1 year old, chances are she won’t have any problems. If she is in labor more than 24 hours or seems to be struggling more than she should you should take her to a vet. Otherwise just make sure she is eating food appropriate for a pregnant/lactating cat until she weans her kittens (most “kitten” and “all life stages” foods meet the higher protein requirement), provide a safe warm sheltered place for her to have the kittens and let nature take its course.

You should also call a vet and see when you can have her spayed after she has the kittens. There are TONS of homeless, unwanted cats in shelters, millions of them are killed every year because no one wants them. There’s really no reason for you to let your cat breed continuously, an unspayed cat can have 2 or 3 litters EVERY YEAR. Finding good homes for kittens is hard work, you can’t just post a “free to a good home ad” like you might think. Some people who answer these ads just collect animals to sell to research laboratories or kitten/puppy mills, or just aren’t going to take care of the cats. Most litters are 3 - 6 kittens so you might want to start looking for potential GOOD homes for them now if you can’t afford to keep them all.

Good luck with your cat and her kittens!

During the initial stage of labor the mother cat will find a safe, comfortable place to lie down. Her breathing rate will increase so that it may seem as if she is panting. She may also purr quite loudly for extended periods of time, and engage in excessive grooming of her genital area. This stage may last for several hours before any kittens are produced, but in some cases the kittens may come quite quickly. As always, if you sense that your cat may be in distress contact your veterinarian immediately. For quick advice, http://cats.about.com/od/reproduction/a/birthprocess.htm is a good resource, though not a substitute for a vet in an emergency.

first it would need to be at least 2 years old.plus the day before she gives birth, either bring her to a vet to stay in or set up the way it needs to be at home.first put a blanket in a certain spot, then put a towel over the blanket, and put a gate around her,so no one steps on her.it also needs to be indoors.Such as if she bleeds she will have the towel.plus after the kittens are 6 weeks old,you will need to give them cat food.they can still eat milk.all the kittens i know that are vaccinatted.after they are 2 weeks old they will be vaccinatted.
