Actually it is normal.Especially if this is her first litter.Having one kitten makes it much easier on the mother, and since your cat only had one kitten she will have plenty of milk to keep it healthy.

if it was her first litter it is actually VERY normal. If she has had more than 3 litters before it is probly not normal, although i’m not sure :(

One kitten is rather unusual. But, it’s perfectly healthy. Don’t plan on adopting out the kitten though. When the queen gives her undivided attention to one kit, they become very attached to each other.

As far as the single kitten, that is explainable. Most likely she was caught in the middle of a tom-fight when in estrus, and only one or two toms got to mate with her. Then…the male stimulates the queen to ovulate during mating by raking the walls of her vagina, and this does not occur every time. Therefore it takes several attempts at mating to produce a kitten.

(Note: If I gross any of you out, sorry. I am not being slutty but rather stating the facts needed here, about feline reproduction.)

that is unusual because cats are supposed to have about 7. the rest might’ve died while in the womb, or are premature. i’m not quite sure but maybe the vet would know. i’d like to help more but i don’t know how that happened. sorry!
