Female cats can go into heat and get pregnant as early as 4 months of age. They are usually in heat for 7 to 10 days at a time, and will go in and out of heat every week or two until they are mated or spayed.
It is best to spay and neuter all cats before they reach sexual maturity (as early as 3 months to before 6 months) to avoid pregnancy, deadly pyometra, spraying and other behavioral issues, discomfort to the cat and the annoying behaviors that unfixed cats display.

I called the vet myself after receiving the first answer from Kat and found this info to be completely inaccurate. The vet said a cat’s first heat is 8-9 months old, and they only go into heat twice a year, usually. Thanks to all who answered.
