What does it mean when the droppings are soft/there are white specks in it? after deworming

2 Answers  |  Asked By: pufflesmom   1

I just dewormed my new cat. He’s 1 yr old. He went from having bloody stools to almost normal stools, though at times it is mushy and there seem to white dots in it. (3 days since deworming)
Why and what are they?
He seems better except for that.

He could be passing them as that is how his system removes the worms after de-worming. Or you could be seeing tape worms as they look like grains of rice.

Did you use a wormer from a vet or did you buy it from a petstore? Certain dewormers are available over-the-counter for treating worms but they\\\’re not very high quality and they won\\\’t treat certain worms like tapeworms, or protazoal parasites like Giardia.

If you used an over the counter womer, you really need to take a fecal sample to the vet to find out what kind of worms he has and he\\\’ll be treated with the correct medication.
