my cat babybart has been ill with a high fever for 3 days, we took him to the vet they gave him iv fluids and a blood workup, he has tapeworms so, she gave us profender to use also doxycycline antibiotic for 3 weeks. he is also getting metacam 1 time evry evening for 5 days for pain and inflammation. problem, he is getting better, fever broke, and hes urinating some, but has not defecated yet. any suggestions to help him along?

I don\\\’t have any experience with tapeworms, but I\\\’m pretty sure that they ingest a lot of the nutrients that the cat takes in. That would result in limited defecation, I would imagine. How long has it been since he defecated? I would consult with your vet before trying any home remedies.

Antibiotics can do that. They kill not only the bad bacteria, but also the good bacteria that is naturally present in the digestive system, and the good bacteria helps with digestion and moving stuff along. Yes, call your vet, mention the medications and the problem of no defecation in five days.
