The only way to tell is your cat is pregnant without a vet check is to wait and see.

However, considering the cat population is out of control it would be best to go ahead and have her in for a spay before any kittens grow. There is no reason to allow a cat to have kittens.

Okay, so one way of telling if your cat is pregnant is by looking at her stomach and seeing how large it is. The first month might be a bit hard to tell, but keep an eye on her and see how she gets on. Also, try feeling her stomach and gently pressing down on it to see if you can feel something. Another thing, pregnant cats are often tired and don’t move around too much so that too can be a sign. If you’re still not very sure, I would recommend taking your cat to the vet because they know more and can give you advice on how to care for a pregnant female, and what to do when it’s time for the birth.

Those are really good suggestions, but a real tell tale sign is if her nipples are getting larger, then you know they are filling up with milk to feed some little kitties!

well they are good suggestions, but i think there is more signs. She wont eat in the bowl, she might have to eat from the ground [[make sure its a clean floor.]] and she will keep meowing like crazy and she’ll get fat and stuff those are some ways to know and to help :D

I am too trying to find more info out. What I have learned so far is that: around week 3 (if pregnant) nipples will enlarge and become pinker/redder (more pronounced if it’s the first pregnancy). Also she will likely seek out your affection (something due to hormones). And her stomach will obviously start to grow larger but the difference in a pregnant cat and an overweight kitty is that the an overweight kitty gains wt all over but on a pregnant one you should start to notice that the abdomen has a pot belly appereance or as I heard it referred to a burro look. Kind of sway back and if looking down on the kitty the belly wt gain starts further back about midway down the back. Also unless you are trained you should NEVER rub or try to palpate for the kittens; as it could due severe unrepitable damage or even cause still birth or misscarriage (your vet should be able to palpate for them around wk 3-4). They will go thru spells of increased and also decrease in appetite, but after approx 2nd week of suspected pregnancy they need a diet with kitten food mixed in with their normal diet to aid in fetal development (also make sure it’s a good kitty food as she will need to continue on the diet thru nursing until the kittens are weaned). I was instructed that in the very last week or so of preg by very gently rubbing (very light touch) you should be able to see the fetus moving but not always. And towards the end of preg (approx 65 days but could be as much as 70 or as little as 60) the mom to be will start nesting trying to find a quiet, safe place to have her kittens. You might want to make shredded newspaper or some towels available for her to use. And as much as 75% of all births take place during the night. So just make sure for that time if you have small children and/or dogs (lrg-small) that at least they can not disturb her during this time. Also if you would like after approx 4 wks gestation you should be able to take your kitty in to your vet for radiographs to see approx how many babies. One last note your mom to be will have a drop in temp approx 12-24 hrs before birthing. So if you know how and have a thermometer the last few weeks you could keep a record of her temp so if it drops you would when to expect the kittens. Good luck to everyone. I am in the same boat. Someone left these 2 beautiful female Persians at our backdoor no less on a rainy day. They were in terrible condition covered in fleas and sores, skin and bones and I am so afraid that they are pregnant. It would be terrible for them both due to their condition. I have had them only a few weeks and got them cleaned up no sores or fleas; both have gained some good weight but still they are in no condition to have a litter. I am so afraid of what could happen to these beautiful sweet girls. I am going to have radiographs taken next week so we know for sure but even sx is too risky for these little girls. Take care to all and please seek vet care when it is more than you know.

one of the ways to tell that your cat is pregnant is by touching your cat’s belly really softy and feeling if their is a baby moving around in thier belly. or by looking at your cats belly and see if your cat is getting fatter then that might mine that your cat is pregnant.
