why does my indoor cat want to eat so much soft food?
My indoor cat wants to be fed soft cat food 3x a day,( Friskies fine cut with chicken) sometimes when I feed her the soft food she immeditaly throws it up before it even has time to digest (as she just did). I feed her hard food ( Royal Canin Intestinal HE ) that she has access to all the time. I can’t figure out why she thinks she is hungry all the time. She does not go outdoors at all. My sister says Skittles look thin! Oh, she also gets vaseline for hairballs, this works great!
Keywords: Acts starving all the time!!

When you’re feeding lower quality foods such as Friskies or Royal Canin, cats are not getting as much good nutrition as they require - they’re mostly getting filler. So they do tend to need to eat more of it.
Sometimes if cats eat too fast they will throw up. You can offer her a bit less at a time so that she has to slow down a bit.
Cats who have worms are known to eat and eat and eat but don’t gain weight. I highly recommend getting your kitty checked by a vet. The worms are preventing necessary nutrition to reach her and that’s something you want to have fixed.
Personally, I think that might be the problem. The average cat eats about 5.5 oz of canned food per day. You don’t say how much you’re giving her, but if she’s getting a whole can per meal and is still thin, then there’s definitely something wrong. But if you’re only using one can per day, then she’s probably just undernourished.

Beastmaster, I appreciate your feedback. I thought that Royal Canin was good quality food because I get it from her vet!! She was on Science Diet but started to thow it up quite often, so I changed to RC. Since she does not go outside, how/where would she get worms? Oh, she eats a pouch a day of the soft food, which is 3 ounces. Maybe I need to try a different soft food that has better nutritional value. Any suggestions?

your cat could have bitten something really hard and hurt her teeth and all she can eat is soft food without hurting her teeth
