Female cats can go into heat and get pregnant as early as 4 months of age. They are usually in heat for 7 to 10 days at a time, and will go in and out of heat every week or two until they are mated or spayed.

It is best to spay and neuter all cats before they reach sexual maturity (as early as 3 months to before 6 months) to avoid pregnancy, deadly pyometra, spraying and other behavioral issues, discomfort to the cat and the annoying behaviors that unfixed cats display.

Please Spay and Neuter!

Cats are around 8 months when they go into heat, and they CANNOT be spayed until they are 4 months of age. And they do not go into heat every week or two. They go into heat about 3 to 5 times a YEAR.

Female cats are around 8 months of age when they go into heat. At this time, they can get pregnant. But cats are not full grown until they are about 18 months of age. That is when their body is mature enough to properly have the nurishment for them and their kittens. But there are so many unwanted kittens and adult cats that don’t have a home, and thousands of cats are put to death each week because of over population of cats. The same goes with dogs too. So, please have a heart and don’t let your cat become pregnant and have babies that may not have a good life. Spay your kitty.

Kittygirl,

This is what I thought as well, that kittens are about 8 months old when they first go into heat. I’ve NEVER heard of a kitten being 4 months old and going into heat. Thanks!
