My cats purr has changed

6 Answers  |  Asked By: ndsfeather   1

Over a month ago I noticed my three year old cat began to purr more sporatically, the tone was different. He still purrs during the same activities as he did before but now he appears to be putting more effort into purring. He still is just as active as he was before. Can my cats purr be changing as he is getting older? or is this a sign of illness? I do not have the money to bring him to the vet right now so any information would be extremely benefical.

Thank you. All of you have the same answer. I will just watch him and make sure there is nothing else going on. I am new at having young cats. So seeing changes is new to me. Thanks so much.

One reason could be that he his getting older and that his voice is changing, like any other boy goes through. A second reason could be that your cat enjoys the activities more so then he shows you that he enjoys it more through a different pur.

Your cat’s just getting older. Jerseygirl1303 is also right; his vocie may be changing and getting deeper. There’s nothing to worry about. If his voice gets raspy or he stops purring in their usual activities, you can take your kitty to the vet. But he’s fine.
