my cat has started to limp and is unable to sit down…
my cat has started to limp and is unable to sit down (or doesnt want to maybe?)…i dont know if its a sprain, or a back injury. he reminds me an 18 yr old cat - but he is only 6….does anyone have any suggestions of something to try? when i touch his back legs he has looooong meows, but doesnt pull away like i am hurting him. when i pick him up - his back legs are shakey…could he be really constipated and possibly have crystals? could he have a sprained leg? i noticed his right back peds are swollen (as compared to his left)..or could it be a back injury?? please help..if its a “sprain” or something a vet wont be much help? he is a very social cat - plays fetch, watches TV with the family, but over the last couple days has been to himself..sleeping in corners where he wont be bothered…thank you for ANY info anyone can provide/suggest.

You are correct in that it could be crystals or constipation. A sprain is possible as well. Impacted anal glands are also a possibility. The symptoms you describe could be any of those.
Only a vet can rule each of these out so it would be best to go ahead and make an appointment just to be safe.

Well, it sounds as if your cat has etier sparained or broken there back leg, or ahe has a digestive problem mabe, but most likly the others. You should take him/her to a vet as soon as possible to be confermed.
As for the cat, you should make sure it is not using the leg alot. Perhapse you should bring your food to your cat, and moving the litterbox closer would be nice. Make sure your cat can get IN its litter box, for you dont want a messy floor.
Make sure it is not doing anything rough, or jumping on to things. This can cause, like human bones( ive had LOTS of experiance with my bones(wrist, foot, collerbone, ankle) ) the break to expaned, or a sprain to get worse.
Even if it was a sprain the vet COULD help by showing you it IS a sprain (or break) and can give you medication. So the best thing to do would be to take it to the vet if its in pain.
Hope That Helped!

His foot must be very sensitive if he can’t sit down. And no, your cat isn’t just choosing to sit down because well…just because. Take him to the vet.
