When a cat is gassy, chances are the food needs to be changed. We have 30 inside cats and 4 dogs and none of them are gassy. The only time our dogs have been was when we used a food that didn\\\’t agree with them.
Flatulence can also be recurrent, chronic, and/or representative of a significant underlying disease. For this reason, persistent flatulence should not be ignored. Diets that are high in soybean or fiber, spoiled food, and/or overeating increase the amount of gas produced by the intestinal bacteria and increase the amount of flatulence.
Dietary intolerance or allergy may induce gastrointestinal signs that include any combination of vomiting, diarrhea, and flatulence.
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an inflammation of the walls of the intestines. Vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, poor appetite, and weight loss are common clinical signs of IBD.
I would try a different diet and if it continues, have your cat checked by a vet.

Ditto what Catsofmany said, and also, do you feed your cat milk, cheese, cream or other dairy products? Most cats are naturally lactose intolerant and even a little treat now and then could lead to gas.
My cat used to be able to clear a whole room when I first brought her home from the animal shelter, where she was fed probably whatever cheap dry food they had been donated (think store-brand, or something cheap like friskies, whiskas or 9 lives, is what they usually end up getting).
Her gas improved somewhat when I was feeding her Iams, but it didn\\\’t go away completely until I switched her to a grainless brand, Wellness CORE. Cats do not digest plant matter well, including the corn, soy and wheat ingredients common in dry cat foods. Since I quit feeding her food with those ingredients, she hasn\\\’t pooted once since then.
Occasional gas is normal for animals that eat plants (including people), but cats are carnivores and this shouldn\\\’t be a common occurance for them if they are on an appropriate meat-based diet. Try out a grainless brand like EVO, Wellness, Nature\\\’s Variet Instincts, Orijen, Solid Gold Indigo Moon, etc. and see if that clears up the problem.

catsofmany and telegramsmom both have really well thought out answers to your question. There are also some medications that focus on improving the intestinal health of your cat. You can check some of those out.
