If they smell bad, that\\\’s generally a sign of infection. Infected cuts smell absolutely FOUL. Is there any pus at all? That can also be a bad sign. If there is an infection, washing won\\\’t fix it. She might need an antibiotic.

If the scabs are bulging out, there could easily be an infection. But even if they are flat on the head, she could have squeezed out the pus while washing, making the odor even stronger.
