Has anyone ever had a cat that makes these horrible sounds in her throat, like when she drinks water and she snores when she sleeps, very odd like she cant exhale from her nose, almost like something is blocking her airway.
I have a feral rescue cat that makes these horrible congestive sounds in her throat, i took her to the vet when she was little because of it but she was so tiny they couldn’t really look in her throat, but her lungs were clear. She has tons of energy and other then the noises from her throat is in great shape.

She could have sinusitis or hay fever, with nasal discharge draining into her throat. If her lungs are clear and she is in good health otherwise, I wouldn\\\’t worry.

It could be asthma.
We had a cat years ago that had asthma and we have two now that have asthma. One was on prednisolone for years when she had a flair up. She‘s 13. The male has issues in the spring with sneezing and coughing. (Since a diet change, she has not had any more attacks) Kitty litter is the biggest offender of attacks in cats with asthma. And even if a cat doesn’t have asthma, kitty litter can make them wheeze and bother their eyes. Stay away from scented litters and try to find as dust free as possible. We use a clumping litter that is 99% dust free. When washing out the litter pan, use a bleach and water solution only. Rinse well.
We stopped using all aerosols in the house, Frebreeze is horrible for asthmatic cats, floor cleaning products, window cleaning products, hair spray, and avoid wearing perfume. I use Cider Vinegar to clean windows. I use bleach and water to wash our floors but keep our cats away from the area until the floors are totally dry.
The usual signs of asthma in cats include episodes of difficulty breathing that often occur suddenly, wheezing, decreased ability to exercise and coughing. This is a disease of the lower airways, so snuffling and congestion of the upper airways is not a typical sign.
However, episodes of open mouthed breathing are a sign of asthma, so it
is possible to have two conditions going on — or that the upper airway problem caused enough difficulty with nasal breathing that a cat has to resort to open mouth breathing (gagging to release the phlegm) and asthma is not present.
There is no really good way to definitively diagnose asthma. There are changes on X-rays caused by visible thickening of the airways which can help in making a diagnosis. Upper airway disease is really common in cats, mostly due to recurrent attacks of herpes virus or damage to upper airway defenses from severe herpes virus infections as a kitten.

I have a similar cat named Cuddles. I was very worried about the sounds he was making when he was breathing, and the fact that he would snore while he was sleeping. I took him to the vet, and they said the same thing. Sometimes I still worry about him, because I wouldn\\\’t know if he actually had a breathing problem. However, he is very active and healthy, and I haven\\\’t had to take him back to the vet. If you want to be very sure, I would probably get a second opinion, but in my experience, I think your kitty should be fine. I would start worrying though if she starts getting lethargic, or stops eating like she normally does. I hope this helps! Good luck!
