Yes, I would make a visit to the vet for this.

Vision is so important and it could be something that needs treatment such as conjunctivitis so it doesn’t get worse. It could also be a sign of something else so it’s best for you to have a vet take a look for you.

Taking the cat to the vet would be better then listening to anyone on here. The vet knows what is best for the cat. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of people on here that know what they are talking about on some things, but yeah the vet would know best.

One of my cats have the same thing. I was visiting home and took him to the vet and they referred me to an opthomologist. The regular vet told me many things it could be ranging from a cut that never healed or even a tumor :(
I googled growth on cats eye, and the main thing that came up was feline herpes. It is different than human herpes. It can be from an infection or something previous they had. My cat recently had uveitis. something that is going around. It can do that to an eye. It said that can be a secondary reason the growth would grow. Uveitis starts with their eye draining and them sneezing. The doc will give antibiotics, but if they are not kept up with, the eye can get infected. It can be either strong eyedrops to fix it in a few days, or sadly removal of the eye, and replaced with a fake one. I am taking my cat to the eye doctor on wednesday. Sadly, thats the soonest they can take me. The regular vet did give me some eye drops, but they are only antibiotics, they have no steroids because it depends on the underlying problem to the infection. I truly suggest you take your cat to the vet, if it is a recent problem, they can get it now. I just adopted mine from my parents who sadly waited way too long to get him fixed, now he has to go to a specific vet. Good luck, and i hope he is ok.
