what is the average life span of a himalayan cat

5 Answers  |  Asked By: overcomer   1

My 14 year old male himalayan cat has become incontinent and he’s also throwing up and has some diarrhea…sorry it’s so gross, but I really want to know if this is a sign he’s just sick or is it possible he’s coming to the end of his life, so this is the reason I’m wondering approximately how long these cats typically live?

Incontinence points to aging, not death. Throwing up and diarrhea point to illness, not death.
Cats are easily living into their twenties, and longer, these days with their safer indoor lifestyles.
Please take your cat to the vet so that he can be properly diagnosed and treated.

On second thought… Himmy’a are very prone to kidney failure and renal disease due to the inbreeding of the breed. Your cat has some some the symptoms that point to that.

A trip to the vet is in order asap.

The symptoms sound like they might be kidney failure, or diabetes. Well, one of the parts of diabetes is kidney failure anyway. My cat got very bad diabetes a couple years ago and we had to put her down :(. Take your persian to the vet imediately.
