When your kitten begins to lose her baby teeth (about 3-4 months old) she is going to want to chew on most things she sees. Be sure to provide her with appropriate items for teething, and keep things like electrical cords out of reach/sight.

No problem. Figured as much. How about with food? Should I not let her eat dry food?

Dry food isn’t the best option for kittens (or adult cats for the matter).

If possible, try to find a wet food solution for your kitten. The major difference between “kitten” food and what you give the adult cat is the protein/fat content. Kittens tend to eat less in a sitting, so the higher protein content is important to healthy growth. This is another reason why dry is not the best option, as it tends to be higher in carbs rather than protein.

Hope that helps!

Your kitten will want to chew on everything,as mentioned above.Wet food would be a good choice for now.Actually dry food isn’t the #1 choice for adult cats either.Make sure you give her stuff to chew on and keep anything that could harm her(electrical cords, poisonous stuff, ect.)

Actually, I’m quite amazed at how many confused cat owners there are out there. Dry cat food can be high in carbs, which is why its important to do two things. One, find one that is well balanced, and secondly, limit how much you give them. There are feeding guidlines on the bag to help you. DON’T cut out dry food altogether. Dry food helps clean kitties teeth, and brands with a high fiber content help ease fur threw the digestive system and into the litter box. This help minimize fur ball hacked up on the carpet. Wet food can be, and usually is high in calories and carbs. So ease up on wet food. I give my boy Scamp one can of Fancy feast a month, one teaspoon a day for four to six days. Dry kitten food is okay. Try Iams. The bits are small, and can be made soft with a bit of water. Take care, try not to worry, and enjoy your kitty pal. Meow for now!

just do it the normal way. check her mouth if any holes are filled up with dry food so you can get it out of those spaces. check her mouth to see if any adult teeth are coming out. she may have a little temper when her adult teeth come in.

The only thing you should be worried about is if your cat swallows their tooth when it falls out. Even if your cat does swallow it, I don’t think you should be too concerned. There is a small percentage of your cat choking though.

your cat will be fine everybody loses baby teeth, if she swallos them, not a big deal and if they fall out they’ll grow back in. but maybe stick to canned food more until she gets her grown up teeth.

You really don’t need to do much, I’ve never had a cat chew up things when they were losing their baby teeth,of course they are spoiled and have lots of toys to chew on. As far as the debate on wet or dry food… Either is fine just make sure you read labels to make sure they are getting what they need. Personally i don’t use wet food. I’ve tried and it gave them the runs and they didn’t eat it as well as the dry. My girl i bottle fed( her mom died) so when i switched her from formula to dry i did it slowly, mixing formula with crushed cat food and each time i used a little less formula and more dry. When it was just dry food i did add a little water to soften it but not much.

She is going to byte everything she sees. Try to buy her lots of toys made of rubber. They won’t break that easily. Keep her away from furniture.

just let your kitten loose its teeth by its self. DONT PULL ANY OUT!!!!!!!!!! that may hurt them. i would keep a closer eye on your kitten and he or she mite start to chew on things more often i would keep valubles out of reach. or at least valubles that she mite chew on

Your cat will be fine. You just need to know that it will need things to chew on, and if it won’t be an outdoor cat ever, you may want to consider buying some cat grass. Your cat will try to chew on many things, and cat grass seems like a smrt choice. Better to have them chewing on something they SHOULD eat rather than SHOULDN’T!

Your cat will start chewing on things more, so try to find things it CAN chew on. If it isn’t an outdoor cat (which a cat at 3-4 months would not normally be) then you could buy something like cat grass or something. It usually has cats chewing on something that really IS good for them to chew on. Cats usually just swallow their baby teeth when they lose them, so you more than likely won’t need to worry about stepping on some weird thing in the middle of the night.
