ziggy has already given you some good links on cat foods, so I won’t answer that aspect of your question.

I just wanted to point out that many cats will turn up their noses when new foods are offered. Cats are suspicious by nature, so sometimes you have to trick them into trying new foods.

I’m assuming you’re feeding dry food and have bought a different brand of dry food. If this is the case, what you can do is mix a small amount of the new food in with the old. For example, if you feed 1/2 cup of dry food per meal, put just a bit under 1/2 cup of that in another container, and make up the difference with the new food. Give the container a shake to mix them up and then serve that.

It might work even better if you do this a bit ahead of time. That way the scent of the old food may mask the scent of the new and your cat may be more accepting of it.

Another thing you can do is crush up some of the old food and sprinkle that over the new. That will also help with making something new smell like the old familiar food.

Over time, you’ll gradually increase the amount of the new food in the mix until that is all you’re feeding.

Generally speaking, most foods you can find in your general grocery store are low-quality foods.

There are quite a few great threads on this site regarding food. The general suggestion is to stay away from foods that use corn meal or grain as a filler and ensure that actual meat is an ingredient (as opposed to meat BY-PRODUCTS). Artificial colors/flavors are also a no-no.

I’m posting some of the discussion threads in my “Sources” - check those out!

purina one advanced adult hairball control. it is made with yogurt which helps your cats digestive system and stops your cat form puking and having half as many hairballs
but form time to time your cat will puke up a furball because where else is the furball going to go? cats can’t break down their fur into their wastege. but it is very good for you cat and reduces fur balls form 50% to 75%.
hope this helps!

Purina One is a slight step-up from most of the garbage on the grocery store shelf but it is still full of grains and by-products and is really more expensive than what it is worth. It is "poor-to-middling" not "good" cat food.
