Commonly, when an older cat has an established presence in a home it will assume dominance over a younger new arrival, especially when it comes to food. Some cats are able to work the problem out among themselves, though most require some sort of human intervention. In this case it seems that the separation of the cats at feeding time is in order. Rather than leave the kitten’s food out where the older cat can get to it, bring both the kitten and her food into an empty room and close the door. A bathroom works well for this. Leave the kitten in there for thirty minutes or so, long enough for her to eat what you’ve given her. It may take a few days for your kitten get used to this new feeding routine, but soon she will catch on and your mealtime troubles will be solved. You may also find that with the food issue out of the way, the two cats will begin to get along better.

MissKleo has a good answer. This is what I did with my last kitten. I put him in the bathroom to feed him and removed the food so the other cat wouldn’t eat it. Kitten food will make the other cat fat, or in my case fatter, so I removed it so she wouldn’t eat it. I’m so glad they are all eating the same food now.

I had that problem too. My two cats weren’t related and they always faught. Often, one of them always ate everything and the other didn’t eat anything. What I did was make sure the scared cat ate first and kept the other cat away so the first cat could eat in peace. You can’t let the mean cat always have control or the situation will get more tense in between them.

Also, one cat came in after one was there. The first cat is just letting the other know that they are the boss and were there first. Your cats will outgrow this stage eventually.

put your cat in a differnt room and let the kittens eat on their own and when they both finshed let the mother cat out and let her go to her littens.
