My cat will only eat soft treats - is that common?
One of my cats, whom I have had since 6 weeks of age (she is now 3), will only eat the soft treats. I have tried giving her the hard ones, and the ones that are hard outside but soft in the middle, and she refuses to eat them. She eats a hard food, though. Once, I even snuck a few hard treats into her food, just to see if she would eat them, and she actually ate around them!
Is it normal for a cat to have a preference like this in terms of treats?

Absolutely. And honestly in this case it doesn’t matter. There’s no advantage to the hard treats whatsoever.

What is happening may be one of the two things:
Your cat prefers soft food over the hard food you bought. If this is the case, your cat is perfectly fine, just a picky eater. Try to get it to eat a variety of cat food brands through.
The other cause may be that your cat has a problem with his/her teeth. Sometimes when from bad care of the teeth they get loose teeth, cavities, weak teeth ect. and it makes it harder for them to eat hard food. This happens most with older cats, so your cat is probably picky. If you suspect that is has tooth problems through, bring your cat to the vet and they will determine if this is correct. Even if your cat is just a picky eater, cats have to have their teeth brushed. If you want to know how send me a letter on the subject.

yes this is normal. i have cats that do the exact same thing. they eat the soft treats but not the hard treats.sneak them in there cat food they eat around them. i even have cats that do not eat treats at all. do not worry. there are certain foods that you do not like well animals are the same way. they can be picky just like humans.

This question is not in regards to food. I am inquiring about treats.

its normal either the hard food is hurting their mouth or gum or it hurts their teeth. my cat will meow all night if i dont throw some water on top of his food so every time i pour food for him i have to water it.

dont you worry one bit! it is nothing to fret about. this behavior is purrrrrrfectly normal. however, if your cat stops eating the food, then you might want to check with the vet.
