I have two cats. We have had one of them for six years, and the other we had gotten just a year ago. Now the problem is, my newer cat keeps eating my older cat’s food, and my older cat is always hungry and moody. Why is this? How can I stop it?

The best way to handle this is to set up scheduled feeding times and feed your cats separately and in separate rooms. This can be quite an inconvenience to you, but it really is the best way to prevent one cat from eating all the food. There really aren’t a lot of other options.

I would try to keep the younger cat busy while the older one eats. Try playing with the younger cat while the older one eats.

maybe the young one likes the older one’s food better. maybe you should feed the young one the food you are feeding the older one. see what happens.

Thank you for all of your answers, everyone! I have tried distracting the younger one while the older one eats, and it’s been working very well so far. I really appreciate your comments guys.

if one of your cats is eating the other ones food then i thing you should put your cats in seperate rooms and don’t let your cats out tell they have finshed all their food and then that well sove your probable.
is that doesn’t work then put the cat that eat’s all off the food out side to eat and the other cat that ain’t getting any food out the cat in side and then they well get uesed to getting their own food.

Well the younger cat might not like the food you give it and wants a different food?Try buying a different one and see how it goes!
