Purina isn’t any better than Iams by any means. Look at the ingredients. Purina has corn gluten meal in it and the first ingredient isn’t even chicken. It’s poultry by products.
Friskies…Ground yellow corn,, corn gluten meal, chicken by-product meal.
Special Kitty….Ground Yellow Corn, Corn Gluten Meal, Chicken By-Product Meal, Ground Wheat, Animal Digest…
Purina Cat Chow….Poultry by-product meal, ground yellow corn, wheat flour, corn gluten meal.
Iams….Chicken, Chicken By-Product Meal, Corn Grits, Corn Meal, Chicken Fat .

The first 5 ingredients are the most important in what's in the food. Ground yellow corn listed first tells you what the poor cat is getting most of. At least Iams has chicken first. It still isn't a great food but it's a heck of alot better than the other 3 listed there.

As long as you’re feeding a good, quality diet, it doesn’t matter whether it’s hard or soft. You want to make sure your cat is at a good weight, fur healthy and shiny, teeth look good and vet exams are positive.

Hmm… I’ve heard some people argue that cats should have at least SOME dry food as kittens to develop jaw strength but I don’t know if there’s any truth to that statement.
Like Catsofmany said though, it is really the quality of the particular brand your feeding that matters most - you want a food that is based on high quality animal protein, not cheap grain and gluten fillers.
Dry foods made for kittens usually have smaller kibble pieces to be easier to eat but otherwise, a slightly higher protein and fat content is the main difference. High-quality cat foods that are grain-free tend to be marked “all life stages” because they are higher in protein and fat than even cheap kitten food and are healthier for cats of any age than “grocery story” foods with a lot of grain ingredients.
So basically just feed your cat the highest quality food you can afford to. Wet or dry mostly is an issue for cats with urinary tract problems who should always be feed wet food.

It depends entirely on your cat. If you and your vet think the cat’s teeth are healthy enough to chew on dry food, go for it. But some cats need wet food until their teeth are ready for it. Also make sure that the food you are giving your cat is in high quality and good health; but that doesn’t mean you have to pay more money for your cat food than everyone else does to get the best quality.
Note: Iams is not good for cats. My vet said he looked at the ingredients and it’s not really that healthy for cats. It’s got some stuff in it that isn’t good. He also said that other vets only recommend it because it’s got a commercial, and because other people recommend it. So please don’t ever get Iams. I get my cat Purina.

Teeth have nothing to do with this. There are hard foods for kittens. Quality of the food is what is important.

Milk is not good for cats. The stereotype of giving milk to cats is just that - a stereotype. Most cats are lactose intolerant and can't digest cow's milk or cheese/yogurt/other dairy products made from cow's milk.
