You didn’t say how long she has not eaten or how old she is. I have one cat that stopped eating for a little over a day and barely ate for the next week when he got an upper respiratory infection. Another of my cats couldn’t manage any dry food for about two days, even when she seemed to be starving. So I crushed the food and mixed it with juice from canned tuna. She scarfed it down. She was between five and six months old, and the problem was that she had lost a molar on each side of the mouth at the same time and didn’t have the teeth to chew with. She was back to normal eating the next day. But almost anything else that stops the cat from eating for more than a day or two indicates the need for a visit to the vet.

At six to eight weeks old, she has been weened. Even a picky cat is likely to eat after starving herself for 4-7 days. It is probably too late to bring her to the vet today, so I would try one last time. Using a glass, ceramic or stainless bowl give her a measured amount of food. (If the food she has not eaten is dry food, crush it and moisten it with juice from a can of tuna or just give her a measured amount of tuna.) After a couple of hours measure the food remaining to see if she has eaten. Cats can go thru stages of low appetite followed by gorging, just like children. Only very low appetite is usually a sign of illness. If she does eat some of the food, she might be picky, or just have good taste.

well if she is new then it is because she is not used to her surroundings but if it is like all of a sudden then you should really get her checked out.

How old is she?Because if she is young she may not be weaned(used to solid food).Has she eat-
en solid food before?

It’s very, very bad for cats to go without food for more then a 24 hour period. Have you noticed anything different in your cats behavior other then not eating? Try mixing the food with wet food to see if the cat will eat it then. If it does, then your cat is probably being picky. Even if the food is unhealthy, always make sure your cat eats!

Nothing other then the not eating...let's see... When you got her, did she come with a different kind of food? Is the cat food *kitten food*? Try mixing wet food with the dry food to make her eat it. It's very unhealthy for a cat to go more then 24 hours without eating! Call your vet and see what they say; they can give helpful info over the phone so you don't have to make an appt. and spend lots of money. If this persists and nothing helps, please do make an appt. with your vet right away! This could be serious considering how young the cat is and how it's not eating healthy. Even try buying the cheep foods like Purina, Meow mix, Friskies--anything to MAKE SURE she eats. Even if these foods are not top quality, it's better for her to eat something then nothing. Hope all goes well!
