My cat consumed all of my catfood and my mom don’t have time to buy because she’s busy.Sha said that we will just feed them dogfood because we had lots for our dogs.Is it ok for a cat to eat dogfood?

Feeding a cat dog food once won\\\’t hurt it. Feeding it regularly will hurt it. Cats need taurine which is only found in raw meat and cat food. Dog food does not have this. If a cat does not get taurine, they will go blind and eventually die of cardiomyopathy (in other words, heart failure). I understand as well as anyone about not having time to go get cat food or whatever. But if you are going to have a pet, you have to be responsible enough to make time. There are many stores that are open 24 hours a day.
Just an FYI about the other side of it…Dogs should not eat cat food because cat food has more protein in it than dogs need. If these foods were safe to give to the other, the package would simply say \”pet food.\”

telling someone that it\\\’s ok to feed their cat dog food is incorrect and could lead to the cat getting very sick (see tonklady\\\’s post). i minused you because it\\\’s wrong information and could hurt someone\\\’s cat if they listened to you. also, you shouldn\\\’t let your cats eat it \\\”all the time\\\”!!! just because they ACT like dogs doesn\\\’t mean they ARE dogs.

Well it\\\’s ok but you should try to feed it cat food mostly cuz dogs and cats require different neutrition. Try to keeP it minimal

well its not good for them because thats why they call it dog or cat food also they are specially formulated for old or young dogs and puppy food isn\\\’t good for your cat cause she will get fat and her immune system could get messed up because you changed the cat food to dog food right away . and dry kibble for cats isn\\\’t good for cats anyway cause it cause concentrated urine leading to urinary tract problems. So you can ask you neighbor or something to get your cat food because she shouldn\\\’t randomly switch to dog food and switch back to cat food. And it may have a lower source of protein.
oh and if your mom is feeding her dogs cats treats please ask herif she could stop because it could cause kidney stones.

try it little…my cat also eats dog food but i control it …or read the NUTRITION FACTS and read the cat food\\\’s NUTRITIO FACTS if the vitamins are higher than the cat food

yep!!! =) my kittys eat it all the time its there fave food they like it better that cat\\\’s food but see my cats are strange they act like dogs! but i still love them! sooo it okay don\\\’t worry =)
