I have a cat that had her first litter about 6 months ago and now she has had another litter. I was told that she could have one of the cats from her first litter nurse her second litter. Is this true?

i dont know for a fact but 6 months is too younge. the other kitten hasnt produce milk. because its body hasnt gotten ready for babies.but there is a chance that if just maybe that one of the other litter already had babies recently she could nurse them but that would drain because she was made to only have milk for her own younge.

female dogs can even nurse kits (it was on the news) so that would be possable for what you said to happen. But the nurser has to have milk.

Cats in feral colonies routinely raise their kittens communally and will nurse each other’s kittens without preferential treatment of their own, so the people who said that a mother cat will only ever nurse her own young is simply wrong.

That said, cats, like all mammals, only produce milk after giving birth. If the other cat hasn’t had a litter recently, then she will not be able to nurse any kittens.

I dont think that is true, because I was told that only the mother nurses the young.
