How often to feed my 4 month old kitten

4 Answers  |  Asked By: renelle7   6

I have a 4 month old kitten and I’m not sure how much to feed her. My vet said a 1/3 cup a day, I try to split that up into two feedings, but it still doesn’t seem like much. She’s meowing and begging for more food all day. I read online a 1/2 cup - 1 cup a day. I just don’t know what to do. Right now she’s eating prescription diet z/d.

when i just had my 1 kitten i just filled up a bowl and my kitten just ate what amount he needed to be full he never over eats or under eats thats how i do all 3 of my kittens and they are perfectly healthy, cats like to munch through out the day but they are eating kitten hard food i probably wouldnt feed her diet food because when i asked a pet store about what kind of food to feed them there is something in the kitten food that keeps them on a healty and balanced diet, if you have a jacks aqaurium or another pet store around you call them they are helpful

At four months old, I would not be concerned with overfeeding. Some cats grow faster than other cats and will need more food to grow properly. I think your cat probably needs at least 1/2 cup (or more) per day. For my kittens (now cats) I just filled the bowls, and refilled them when they were empty. None of them are overweight.

When I had my kit I gave him some food and he ate as much as he wanted out of his bowl. I wouldnt be concerned about over feeding unless your kit gets to big and your concerend.
