My mother’s friend, Joyce, has a kitten that the mother doesn’t accept, so we took it under our wing. I have tried a syringe, I have tried to forcefeed, I have tried a baby-bottle, I have tried milk on a dish, I have tried milk on my finger, and I have tried kitten food on my finger. For all of these Smoky (the 2-week old kitten) has started to eat then stopped within 2 seconds of starting. He keeps meowing like he’s hungry, and we can’t get ANYTHING down him. He just won’t eat! He looks bloated; has looked bloated ever since we got him. How can we get him to eat?

Kayla, I have 3 cats, 2 of which were abandoned so i had to bottle feed them since they were 2 weeks old. They are now around 5 months and doing great. What i would suggest is to go to pets-mart or even wal-mart should and get a bottle made for kittens or puppies and then buy some kitten formula. Follow all the directions on the formula package. What i had to do to get the kittens to actually take the kitten bottle was a box on my lap and laid a warm towel over that and then laid the kitten on the there stomach on the towel and then took the bottle and held it a angle and put the nipple right on there mouth, sometime i put it right in there mouth, then usually they will start trying to get some milk out. This takes time be patient, the kittens have to get use to the nipple, once they have you need to feed them every 2-4 hours. If that does not work take the kitten to the ASAP!!
