My mum was feeding my cat something the other day. It turned out she was licking Marmite of a piece of toast. Is that ok for her? :S

Well, lets look at the ingrediants of marmite:
Yeast Extract, Salt, Vegetable Extract, Niacin, Thiamin, Spice Extracts, Riboflavin, Folic Acid, Celery Extract and Vitamin B12

None of these ingrediants will potentially harm your pet, so don`t worry too much. On the topic of feeding cats human food through, never feed your cat onions, garlic, tomatoes, chocolate or
grapes(that includes raisins).

I wouln’t give my cats anything that I have to ask if it’s okay for them to eat. Just don’t give it to her and the next time you go to the vet ask him or her if it is okay.

A small minority of cats can have an allergy to yeast products though for most cats it is probably safe as an occasional treat (and a *little* extra B12, riboflavin, niacin and folic acid are probably not bad at all.)

I wouldn’t recommend feeding it all the time as too much salt is bad for cats and this stuff probably has quite a bit (it is the second ingredient - ingredients are listed by highest to lowest weight on food labels)

I agree with Cedar though - feeding your cat a lot of “human” foods can be dangerous if they include those items she listed, which are all toxic to cats in large enough amounts (even small amounts can cause vomiting, etc)
