I don’t know what the person(s) who told you that meant by it, but I can tell you why I don’t think it’s a good food.
Here are the ingredients:
Fine Cuts with Chicken in Gravy
Ingredients: Water sufficient for processing, chicken, liver, meat by-products (WHAT ARE THESE?), wheat gluten (BAD), turkey, corn
starch-modified (BAD), natural & artificial flavors (WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?), soy flour (BAD), soy protein concentrate (BAD) , potassium chloride, taurine, titanium dioxide color (WHY???), choline chloride, salt, tricalcium phosphate, Vitamin E supplement, thiamin mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Vitamin A acetate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, manganese sulfate, pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), niacin, calcium pantothenate, copper sulfate, riboflavin supplement (Vitamin
B2), Vitamin D3 supplement, dicalcium phosphate, Vitamin B12 supplement, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of Vitamin K activity), folic acid, cobalt carbonate, potassium iodide, biotin
Unnamed byproducts can be anything - beaks and feet are common.
Wheat and corn are fattening grains and are also considered allergens.
What exactly are natural and artificial flavors? There’s something in here that they’re not naming.
Soy is also an allergen and over time can cause a vitamin deficiency.
Basically, this food has too many grains/fillers, too many ingredients that can cause digestive upsets, and too many ingredients that are not named.
The bottom line is, this isn’t the worst food you could find…..but it’s a long way from being the best.
If you can afford better foods, go for it. If you can’t, don’t fret too much.

Yes Daisy. You shoudl be feeding your cat canned. A few picked from the list below would be good. I recommend varying the diet with a constant rotation of 2 to 4 different brands of canned foods that your cat enjoys. If you do this, and allow your cat the same assortment they would have in nature when eating mice, bugs, birds and rabbits, your cat’s digestive system won't be so sensitive and you won't have to run around looking for a specific brand when your store is out. You will have a nice variety to choose from instead. Canned foods I recommend you consider for your rotation: Nature's Variety - http://www.naturesvariety.com/content.lasso?r=0829192&page=1172&-session=naturesvariety:D04EC9250c614143FDKiM2BA9520 Wellness Grain Free Formula’s - http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/cat_wellness_can_index.html By Nature Organics - http://www.bynaturepetfoods.com/productpages/catmain.php Organix - http://www.castorpolluxpet.com/store/organix/organix_organic_canned_formulas_for_cats Evanger's Holistic Pheasant - http://www.evangersdogfood.com/cat/20089.html Evanger's Organic Braised Chicken - http://www.evangersdogfood.com/cat/50103.html Evanger's Turkey & Butternut Squash - http://www.evangersdogfood.com/cat/50111.html PetGuard Organics - http://www.petguard.com/cat-products/canned-food Felidae - http://www.canidae.com/cats/cat_and_kitten/canned.html EVO 95% Meats - http://www.evopet.com/products/default.asp?id=1662 California Natural - http://www.californianaturalpet.com/ Merrick Canned - http://www.merrickpetcare.com/store/canned_cat_food.php Merrick Before Grain - http://www.beforegrain.com Natural Balance - http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/catformulas/NB_CatCanned.html Eagle Pack - http://www.eaglepack.com/Pages/HS_CanCat.html When adding in a new food or changing cat foods please remember to switch your Pets food slowly over a period of 10 to 14 days, if you can. Start by mixing 25% new to 75% old, then 50/50 , then 75% new to 25% old, and finally switching over to 100% new. Take it slow as they need as not to upset their digestive system.
