All small domestic cats descended from desert cats. In the wild, desert cats derive their entire liquid intake from their prey. They do not have a thirst mechanism because they don’t need it when eating a species appropriate diet. They get all they need from what they eat. Additionally water was usually not available to them in their desert climate. So they do not often drink water. Regular ol’ house cats have descended from those same wild desert cats.
So in a home environment, your kitty does not get the moisture it needs from dry food and it’s almost always in a constant state of dehydration. Water fountains are encouraged to TRY to get your cat to drink more and your kitty may even enjoy it, but it will never meet its water intake needs drinking from a bowl.
Deadly feline illnesses such as diabetes, kidney failure, obesity, allergies, Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD), bladder stones, kidney stones, urinary tract blockages and Urinary Tract Infections (FLUTD), with and without deadly crystals run rampant these days. Cats are not taking in enough water to stave them off. Proper water intake through a species appropriate diet alone can prevent most of these conditions.
This is why it’s so important to feed a wet food diet. Wet is all around better for any cats diet, be it canned or Raw and they should never be fed dry cereal kibble if we wish to most closely match their wild nutritional and dietary needs. Kibble meets our needs… not our cats.

well cats like milk but its not good for them. it upsets their tummy. it dose not matter if its milk from a cow or not! give them milk as a treat! and if you do but a FEW drops in then add water. they will grow to like it. and if it dose want milk all the time just turn ur back away! if its alud out then it wil find its own drink. my cats did’t drink tap water but they drank rain water, it may look dirty but their tounge tells them if it’s good for them or not.
he is probley just greedy! don’t give him so many treats! maybe you should get some toy thing or something and play with him more to take his mind off it! don’t fall for the cute “meow!” you must be more strick! my cousin says she knows everything about cats and that our grans cats are always happy! yer right!she thinks that when cats wag their tails their happy but she is soo wrong! and know they have their own cats!
i think your cat is fine. just do what i said and he will get usit to it! ok? bye! oh and will ya be me mate?

My cats won’t drink water from a bowl, one just tips it over. So I bought one of those large watering dishes (that stands upright) and they like it. Although they both prefer to drink out of a small glass cup. It sounds weird, but I think it may be fun for them–I fill one on my nightstand each day. So, you may want to try using a different dish.

My addvice is to stop giving it milk it may sound like abuse but just give it water in an open dish and leave it but if she/he dosen’t drink something in at least 12 hours you need to do something.

stop giving your cat milk. milk makes cats have diarrhea. since its the summer put out water instead of milk. theyll get thirsty and have to drink the water or dehydrate or get thirsty all day. he’ll soon learn to like water that way.
