Mischief_cat123 is absolutely right. Once your cat’s hair is untangled, get him/her used to brushing. It can be a wonderful way to bond with your cat, and it also helps to prevent hairballs.

Simple. It’s like human hair gets tangly. And since cats can’t exactly hold a brush, it gets much worse and forms clumps. You should go to the vet and get him/her to cut the mats off. After that brush your cats fur regularily.
