I see that some people say cats (female) go into heat. What does that mean?

It means that the cat is ready to mate.
Female cats can go into heat and get pregnant as early as 4 months of age. They are usually in heat for 7 to 10 days at a time, and will go in and out of heat every week or two until they are mated or spayed. While in heat female cats may leak a clear liquid from their vaginal area, however they do not bleed or have a menstrual cycle.
It is best to spay and neuter all cats before they reach sexual maturity (as early as 3 months to before 6 months) to avoid pregnancy, deadly pyometra (uterus infection), urine marking/ spraying, discomfort to the cat and the annoying behavioral issues that unfixed cats, both male and female, display.

The average number of litters a fertile cat can produce in one year is 3.
The average number of kittens in a feline litter is 4–6.
In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats.
Only 1 in 12 of those 420,000 cats born finds a home. :o(
Even if you found homes for all your cats, you are still taking away homes that other homeless cats could have had by adding to the population. There are no excuses for your allowing a pet cat to have kittens.

This is when your cat is looking to mate and have kittens. You won’t have to deal with this problem if you have your cat spayed though.

im sorry but if you have a cat you should understand what it means when your cats in heat no matter how old you are.You are still a cat owner.
