My girlfriend and I live together in an apartment and have 1 cat. We are planning on going away for about a week in September and are not sure what is the best thing to do with our cat.
We could take her to my girlfriend’s mom’s house (where she used to live), but they have 3 dogs. Although she used to live there with the 3 dogs, she is now used to living alone and I’m not sure if the change of environment and the dogs woudl be too much stress for her.
Would it be better to let her stay there for a week or to leave her at our apt. and have someone come in everyday to check on her, feed her, etc…?

It would be best to let her stay home and have someone come check on her everyday.
If you don’t have a family member or friend that could help ask around at your vets office if they know any petsitters.

When ever I go on a vacation I get someone to come over to my house to feed my cats, and clean the litterbox.

when i go away i ask my friend to watch my cats and feed them and do the litter box. but their are these kitty hotel things u should try them, my sis says their great with cats

When i go on vacation, i leave them at home, in their usual environment, where they are comfortable. And have a person, like a friend who knows your cat and has one or a pet sitting person come to your house while you are gone.

From what I’ve experienced with my cat, she hates changes in enviorments, and even though your cat might have lived there before, she’s probably used to your apartment now. It would be better to have someone you know to come in and check on her daily. If you move her to your girlfriend’s mother’s house, she might become stressed.

When I go away on vacation I have someone come everyday and feed and clean the litter box. Cats do NOT like changes in their lives so it is best to just have someone come everyday and take care of it.

You should probably give your cat to someone who has had expeirence and somebody you can trust. When you are on vaction, call every once in a while to make sure she is doing ok.

I have watched my neighbors cat when they where gone for about two weeks. I would go over twice a day. He was happy to see me. I would pick him up and give loves and checked his food and water and the litter box. Now I am leaveing for three days. I work up during the day so he is use to not having me home up during the day. I work monday thru friday. It is at night that I feel guilty about. He is used to having me around at night. I know that they will take good care of him. They have watch hime last summer for two nights.
If you can find someone to come in twice aday a spend a little time with your cat he wil fine. He will either be really happy to see you or you get the look and a cold shoulder for a while but he will get over it. Have fun on your vacation and if you do have someone come in to look after him call them and see how is doing it make you feel better.

NO! you should not leave your cat w/ dogs. maybe you should take her w/ you. that is the best thing. and you cant leave her alone for a week.

really ? sorry to get off subject. i agree with cat. taking a cat out of its home can scare it.
