You will need to find out the megabus company’s policy on animals. Some mass transit allow animals to be taken along if kept in certain conditions (usually you will need proof of vaccination from a veterinarian and the animal will have to be kept in a crate/carrier for the duration of the trip and possibly some other requirements) but not all transit allow animals. The cat will probably be kept in the same area as the luggage, many don’t allow animals in with the passengers due to allergy/health concerns. This is stressful for a cat, so if your cat has any health concerns or a weak constitution you are better off not taking it.
Call up their office or look on their website to find out their official pet/animal policy. If they do not allow animals, please do not try to smuggle your cat aboard somehow, you could end up with the cat confiscated for quarantine or get thrown off the bus or likely both.
There are some courier/shipping companies that can safely transport live animals if you are moving somewhere permanently and need to take the cat with you, though this also is stressful on the animal. If possible, get a ride from a friend or relative and take the cat in the car with you. If you are just taking a holiday, take the animal to a cattery or boarding kennel or leave it with a friend/relative who can look after it until you get home.
