Have you traveled with your cat before? Some cats are more receptive to travel than others. Mine make the 3-hour trek with me when we drive to Cleveland without protest, but my sister’s cat cries the entire time he’s in a car, no matter how long or short the ride!

I would be a little worried about a 7-hour train ride, simply because of the litter factor. You can always bring a travel litter box, but unless you’re in a private cabin you are probably going to have trouble using it on a train.

If you do decide to take the cat, make sure you have a comfortable carrier, a blanket to cover it, plenty of water and food, and your cat’s favorite toy.

You will need to check with the train first. I would go to the vet and get something to calm the cat down for the trip.

I highly doubt she's going to be hopping box cars. Modern passenger trains are rather quiet inside.

I am sure the cat will be ok and I do not classify this question as one that would deam someone a bad pet owner.
