Some cats are shy of strangers. That is just their personality. If there are certain people who come over often eventually the cat may get used to them and stop being afraid.

You can try introducing your cat to people by having the person sit down and be quiet and still and pick your cat up and hold her in your arms while you sit next to them so your cat can get used to them. But if your cat starts to struggle or squirm, just let her go.

Not all cats can learn to deal with strangers, especially if they\\\’ve had bad experiences in the past. Usually your best bet for getting a cat to be friendly is to socialize them around a lot of people and other animals when they are still young kittens. It\\\’s much harder to change the behavior of an adult cat that is already scared of them.

Yes I think it\\\’s good to introduce your friends basically as many people as you can to your cat. Not only will they be more comfortable around people but say if it\\\’s an indoor cat that somehow gets out (which happens with my naughty kitty) the cat might be approached by people trying to help catch him/her and you wouldn\\\’t want him/her being scared and running say under your house or across the street.
The other thing you should try is if company is over near the time to feed your cat you should have your company feed him/her, cause we all know a good way to find a shy cat is to feed it.

It would also help if you tell visitors to not look at the cat, cats find stares intimidating. And if you have a friend who does not want cat hair, tell that person to stare at the cat.

People reaching out to pet your cat would also be scary for your cat. Tell the people no.

You know what you should do? You should grab your cat, hold the cat infront of the person, and say \\\” Hey kitty this is my friend what\\\’s his name.\\\”
say to your friend \\\” Say hi to my cat.\\\” He or she will say hi and your cat and your cat might get to know them.

I would tell visitors to now run after the cat or anything.
Also, some cats just have that personality, expecially if they have been though a tough situation, like abuse.
