Rabies is just as dangerous whether it is cat or dog. But more cats get Rabies than dogs do. Dogs are under strict laws to be licensed and in order to get a license, you have to have a current Rabies tag. Cats don’t have to be licensed so there is no way to monitor and control Rabies shots in cats.

Additionally, there is generally a far greater population of stray cats/ferals than stray dogs. Greater population = greater opportunity for infection
