While some grass and flowers would be non-toxic if ingested, others can be quite poisonous or may even cause death. Therefore, from a safety standpoint, it’s probably not a good idea to allow your cat to eat grass and flowers from the yard. Certain times of year people are more likely to fertilize their yards, or spray dandelions and weeds. As these substances could be harmful if ingested by your cat, it’s probably wise not to allow your cat to eat outdoor grass.
If your cat is particularly fond of grass, you might want to check with your local pet supply store. Sometimes they do carry grass that you can grow indoors for your cat’s enjoyment, and would be safe for your cat to nibble.
It’s not known for sure why cats eat grass, but there are some theories. Grass can help cats spit out the hairballs that have formed in their stomach from the hairs they’ve swallowed while grooming themselves. Some scientists also believe cats get certain vitamins from eating grass.

Cat grass is good for cats because it helps them digest hairballs. I get it for my cats and I would defiently recommend it for yours. I love giving cats cat grass ALSO because it helps them to chew on the grass and not the furniture!
Also, I’ve heard that some people even think that there are good things that come from eating cat grass, like vitamins.

Normal grass is good for cats too, but that would mean your cat would have to be an outdoor cat, and I don't recomend that.

Just make sure the grass doesn't have pesticides on it!

Yes, just like catsofmany said, some is okay, some isn’t. Even if your cat is an outdoor cat, you could still get her cat grass, that way she might not eat the bad stuff.
both my cats eat grass outside, but not often. Only when they’re feeling under the weather, and that’s when we take them to the vet. Does your cat eat grass a lot?

My cats eat grass outside and, as you say, when they are under the weather. They are very particular with what kind of grass they eat. And the grass they eat never has herbicides, pesticides or fertilizer on it. The long-haired cats that more frequently get hairballs seem to eat more grass than the short-haired cats. Most plant poisoning of pets is from indoor plants, when the pet is looking for a suitable substitute for grass. They will munch on almost anything (such as potato peels (poisonous), ivy (highly poisonous), string or thread (perhaps from a worn chair), styrofoam (with a food odor). Any substitute for the grass that they seem to need. Cat grass would seem to be ideal for an indoor cat. Since even fertilizers can be poisonous to cats, keep them indoors after the lawn has been treated with anything (even if they don't eat the treated grass they will walk on it and lick their paws).
